Please read the following about Unit tests in Wikipedia, understand the test driven development environment.
And read our Rules To Better Unit Tests.

This rule is divided into two parts:

  • A section called 'New to Unit Testing' for developers that haven't written a lot of unit testing (<100 in their professional career) and have not worked on a project at scale that makes extensive use of unit testing.  
  • A section called 'Experienced Unit Tester' for developers that have extensive unit testing experience.

Complete the appropriate section as dictated by your experience level.
